1. What happens on the first visit?

You will first fill out some simple forms about your personal health history and any insurance you may want to submit.

Next you will meet with the doctor so that he or she can get a complete health history to better guide your care. The doctor will sit down and listen to your current health concerns and answer any questions you have concerning your chiropractic experience.

Based off of your health history and specific condition an exam will be tailored for you. This will consist of a full spinal and soft issue evaluation as well any needed orthopedic and neurologic tests. With the exam findings we will determine if x-rays or other images are needed for the treatment of your condition.

The doctor will then go over your exam and any x-ray findings with you, giving you the necessary information about your condition. An agreement about your care will then be made and then the treatment will begin.

  1. How long will it take to get adjusted?

First the doctor checks to find what area and vertebra need to be adjusted.  Your adjustment may take between five to ten minutes. However, your visit can take up to thirty minutes due to additional time spent on treating any muscles/ soft tissue, extremities (shoulder, knee, etc.), or time spent giving stretches and/ or exercises for home care.

  1. Do you take my insurance?

We will bill any insurance for you, but Insurance coverage is different with each plan. Chiropractic care is included in most health insurance plans, including major medical plans, workers’ compensation, Medicare, some Medicaid plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield plans for federal employees, among others. When insurance does not cover your chiropractic care, we offer other options to affordable chiropractic care for your entire family.

  1. Will my adjustment hurt?

No, the majority of patients do not experience painful adjustments.  Manual adjustments, when indicated clinically (or by a hand-held device called an activator)  are safe, gentle, and typically feel good.

  1. How many times do I have to come?

That’s easy… come as often as you want to heal, feel great, defy age, and live pain-free!  Because each individual is unique on every level, it’s difficult to know how many times you will need to be adjusted in order to reach each of your health goals.  For practical purposes we can estimate your initial schedule, but that is subject to change according to your rate of progress and goals. One thing is for sure: YOUR goals and expectations will determine your care plan-frequency and duration

  1. What conditions can be treated with chiropractic care?

Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions.  DCs are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. The benefits of chiropractic care extend to general health issues, as well, since our body structure affects our overall function. DCs also counsel patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.

  1. Can I bring my kids with me to my appointments?

Yes! There is a play room with lots of toys and coloring. We also love to have your children in the room during the adjustment so they can see first hand what going to a chiropractor is like.

  1. When should I bring my newborn?

Chiropractic care for the newborn can begin within the first day of birth! The birth process can sometimes be traumatic to the baby. Getting chiropractic care is a great start to their new life outside the womb! We recommend that the mother is comfortable traveling and ready to leave the house before bringing the baby in to the office.

  1. Is adjusting a baby the same as adjusting an adult?

No, when adjusting a newborn, a skilled chiropractor will only use the amount of pressure that you would use to comfortably push on your eye. The child gets checked by hand, then is placed in position (sometimes in the parents lap), and gentle pressure is applied. It’s simple, safe, and effective.

  1. If chiropractic for kids safe?

Yes, children can benefit from chiropractic care! Children are very physically active and experience many types of falls and blows from activities of daily living as well as from participating in sports. Chiropractic care is always adapted to the individual patient and in the case of children, is very gentle.

  1. What if I feel fine? Do I need to keep coming back?

That is Always up to you.  Those that commit to regular care find their problem rarely returns: as well, they enjoy a higher quality of life and health.  If regular chiropractic care keeps you “feeling fine,” why would you choose to stop doing what’s working for you? It’s kind of like this: if your teeth feel fine, do you stop brushing them?
