The Power of Chiropractic Care for Kids
A must see before and after correction of an 8-year-old girl following a chiropractic adjustment
On a Friday, this 8-year-old girl woke up with pain in her neck. It was very noticeable to her mom that morning that something was wrong, so she called us to schedule a chiropractic appointment. She was unable to look up and couldn’t lean her neck to the left. Her right shoulder was noticeably higher as well. She had her neck and back adjusted to correct the vertebral subluxations and was instructed to rest over the weekend. She followed up with care 3 days later. Her mom reported that she was noticeably better the next day. By day 3 her cervical range of motion significantly improved, pain decreased, and posture corrected.
Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Children
Sometimes it is obvious when your child needs a check up from a Chiropractor like this girl experienced. Other times it is not as easy to see with your own eyes. Chiropractic care helps with musculoskeletal complaints like neck and back pain. Other conditions we commonly see improve with chiropractic treatments are:
- Ear infections
- Acid reflux (GERD)
- Breast feeding difficulties
What is a Vertebral Subluxation Complex?
When Chiropractors say they correct vertebral subluxations, to put simply they are referring to a misalignment or decreased motion of a joint in the spine which causes changes to the muscles and nervous system. A chiropractic adjustment to the spine is performed to move the specific joint that is restricted, restoring normal function structurally and neurologically. When a subluxation is not treated, it can result in increased pain and decreased proprioception which contribute to a chronic increased stress response. This is one of the many reasons why it is so important to have children checked for vertebral subluxations.
Chiropractors are the only professionals trained to detect, locate, and correct vertebral subluxations. This is why it important to have you and your loved ones checked regularly by a chiropractor. Chiropractic care removes the vertebral subluxation leading to homeostasis and wellness. More patients are taking their children to chiropractors than ever before.
